Doris Mosely
Ms. Doris Mosely made her first quilt top as a nine-patch, which her mother, Ms. Leola Pettway, hand-quilted for her. Growing up, she remembers her mother quilting constantly and always smiling. Ms. Leola often reminded her, “When you’re having a bad day, get you some quilt pieces and your mind will come back together.”
Ms. Doris credits her mother’s steady spirit and creativity as a lasting influence in her life. Today, she continues to share the story of Gee’s Bend quilting through her work as the gallery attendant at the River Gallery, located in the Gee’s Bend Welcome Center.
